Inspections Department: Policies and Procedures

Standard Inspection for Parts run on Machine Shop CNC Machines

1. Verify the number of parts, thickness, width, and length match the drawing attached to the job traveler.

2. Measure two hole locations along the "Y" axis, as far apart as possible, to insure they are located correctly and are parallel with the edge of the plate. Measure one of these holes from the "X" axis to verify it is located correctly.

3. Mic the diameter & depth of each drilled, reamed, bored, and/or tapped hole.

4. Inspect each tapped hole to insure the holes are tapped to the correct size, depth, and that the threads are not galled or torn. Spot check different size tapped holes with Go/No-Go gages.

5. A second inspector will verify quantity & quality of all tapped holes as a check of the first inspector's work.

6. Check the width, length, and/or depth of each machined area.

7. Remove all sharp edges, oil, then stack parts neatly on pallets.

8. Record all inspected dimensions on the PGI inspection report document, attach the original to the job traveler, then sign and date the report.
